Interlaboratory comparison tests (ICT) are an effective tool for confirming competence and monitoring the qualifications of testing laboratories (TL) in performing measurements in accordance with proficiency testing programs and comparing their results with the results of other laboratories. ICT are used by testing laboratory accreditation bodies to assess a laboratory's ability to competently perform the tests and measurements within their scope of accreditation.
Participation of a testing laboratory in ICT is a requirement of the international standard GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019 to ensure the quality of test results.

The results of comparison tests help identify and eliminate internal laboratory problems related to:
- in violation of standard measurement and testing procedures
- using faulty measuring instruments
- with ineffective internal laboratory control
- with errors in calculating and recording measurement and test results

The Proficiency Testing Provider (PT Provider) operates on the basis of the laboratory “Strength and Reliability of Airframe Materials” named after. Professor S.I. Kishkina of the VIAM Testing Center and organizes testing of the qualifications of laboratories through interlaboratory comparison tests in accordance with the requirements of the international standard GOST ISO/IEC 17043-2013 and Accreditation Criteria adopted in the Russian Federation..
Based on the results of the qualification test, MSI Participants are issued:
- Certificate of participation in ICT
- Report on the results of participation in the ICT
